Online Seminar-The IPCC, its Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5C and the current state of the climate negotiations

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the UN scientific panel on climate change. It produces assessment reports based on the latest science to inform policymakers. One of its recent reports, the Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5C (SR1.5) released in 2018, discussed whether it is still possible to limit warming to 1.5C, what would be needed, and how the impacts 2C of global warming compare to those of 1.5C. It was prepared for a dialogue between the countries in the Paris Agreement that took place late 2018. This talk discusses how IPCC reports are put together and why they are so impactful, the main results from the SR1.5, and the current state of the international climate negotiations.
